A THIRD OF ONLINE SHOPPERS SCAMMED ON SECOND-HAND SITES, REPORT CLAIMS

A third of online shoppers have been scammed on second-hand marketplaces in the past two years, a report claims.

Tens of thousands have lost money to fraud on websites where buyers and sellers trade pre-used items.

On certain platforms, more than half of users revealed they have experienced a swindle, according to a survey by consumer group Which?

A Depop spokesman said: 'The safety and trust of our community is our top priority and we have measures to protect users from fraud.'

A spokesman for eBay, where one in three shoppers claimed they had lost out, said: 'Which?'s research is not an accurate reflection of the scale of the issue.'
